DMEM High Glucose (without Phenol red, with L-glu and Sodium pyruvate)
Product Details
Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) is a widely used basal medium for the culture of various mammalian cells, including primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVEC, and smooth muscle cells, as well as cell lines such as HeLa, 293, Cos-7, and PC-12. DMEM was developed based on MEM medium. Compared to MEM medium, it has twice the amino acid content, four times the vitamin content, and also includes non-essential amino acids, trace iron ions, and sodium pyruvate.
Product Advantages
DMEM medium was originally designed as a low-glucose type with a glucose content of 1000 mg/L, and later developed into a high-glucose type with a glucose content of 4500 mg/L, which is now widely used for the culture of various cells. High-glucose DMEM is commonly used for fast-growing, low-adherence cells, hybridoma myeloma cells, cloned cells, transformed cells by DNA transfection, primary virus host cells, single-cell culture, and vaccine production, such as using CHO cells to express EPO and produce hepatitis B vaccine.
L-Glutamine is a necessary nutrient component in the liquid environment of cell culture, but it is unstable in aqueous solution and easily degrades. Sodium pyruvate can be used as an alternative carbon source in cell culture, and cells can also metabolize sodium pyruvate when glucose is insufficient.
